Practice Group Descriptions Novice: These beginning swimmers are those who have graduated from the Sunfish Swimming Lesson program, havebeen on a recreation summer league team (age appropriate), or based upon evaluation in a tryout. The focus of this group is to become a stronger, more efficient swimmer, learn specific drills, and build endurance. To move to Intermediate B Group the swimmers need to:
Equipment requirements: cap, goggles, blue swim fins Average age: 5-9 Intermediate B: These swimmers have shown a proficiency in their ability to move through the water, have knowledge of drills and the ability
to perform them. Coaches will teach a higher level of drills, and sets on interval to improve competitive swim meet performances.

Equipment Requirements: cap, goggles, blue swim fins, pull buoy Average age: 8-13 Age Group 2: The workouts will begin to introduce the three main types of training: Aerobic, Anaerobic, and VO2 max. Training in cycles, this group will experience a taper, so it is critical to plan breaks and vacations around championship meets. With the increase in water time, the swimmers will incorporate a dryland routine, nutritional education, and time management schedule.

Equipment Requirements: cap, goggles, blue swim fins, pull buoy, stretch cords Average age: 11-16 Age Group 1: A variety of workouts ranging from stroke technique with video analysis to high yardage distance, this group is working toward achieving Zone time standards and above. With a focus on taking their swimming ability to a national and collegiate level, the commitment from the athlete is one of complete priority in the sport of swimming.
